The Brackeys Game Jam in August 2019 was a really fun week for me. It was my first week at a new university and the first time in months since I had a chance to work and talk with some of the members I met at GlobalGameJam19.

With an experienced programmer on our team, we chose to create a procedurally generated dungeon crawler. Our game featured a dynamic fog of war, a fireball attack that lights up the level, and items that exist in different planes of reality. Many of our ideas here were more complicated than they needed to be, but we made them for the love of making something new.

I was fortunate to be partnered with some extraordinary people in this project and I learned the value of trusting them to do their job well when I had become busy with school. We crafted a unique narrative and had several playtest builds which we could improve upon.

Working with this team taught me the value of working with a good project manager like Amy and a professional programmer like Matt. I have tried to emulate as much as I can in those tasks from them. From working with Amy, I learned to act as a facilitator for others. From Matt, I learned to never say never and how to structure code using a data object model.

Labyrinthium can be played here.
